La vara es que el tata "Dick Hoyt" tuvo un hijo "Rick Hoyt" que nacio en el año 1962 y al nacer tuvo un problema con su cordnon humbilical, se le enredo en el cuello y se le corto el paso de oxygeno al cerebro y los doctores digeron que tiene paralisis cerebral yq ue va a quedar como un vegetal el resto de la vida
Bueno di al mae nunk lo aceptaron en ninguna escuela por que el mae era mudo y por ser un vegetal, pero los tatas sabian que el tenia como se dice.... bueno el tenia la capacidad de aprender igual a la de los demas, entonces unos ingenieros le construyeron una vara para que se pudiera comunicar con el movimiento de su cabeza (al principio del video sale ) lo primero que Rick escribio en la computadora fue "Vamos Bruins!" y ahi se dieron cuenta que era amante de los deportes, tiempo despues Rick le dijo al tata que queria competir en una carrera, y el papa le dijo que si sin pensarlo 2 veces

El papa lo empuja en una silla de ruedas cuando es corriendo, tambien cuando es de bicis la carrera tine una bici ahi que tiene un asiento para el mae asi el papa lo puede empujar, y cuando es de nadar el papa lleva una lanchita donde mete al hijo y ahi lo jala hasta llegar al final. ( que hombre el tata )
Despues de que Rick le pidiera al papa que lo llevara a su primera carrera, sigieron compitiendo y ahora han competido en mas de 900 eventos ( 942 para ser exacto )
